Volunteers make a big difference at our school. If every parent does Just 1 Thing, our school will become so much better. Although, many of you will probably be doing more than Just 1 Thing!
In order to volunteer on campus, please be sure to register for the Volunteers in Public Schools (ViPS) program. Details are at www.houstonisd.org. Click on "VIPS Login" at the bottom right of the page. Each time you come to school to volunteer, login to the ViPS website, then logout when you leave.
Below are some needs. Please contact ptoboard@wilsonpto.org for more information.
At School... If you have 10-20 minutes... · Read to students in a classroom (check with teacher) · Help a teacher · Assist at the circle drive at drop-off or pick-up · Take pictures of students for the yearbook · Inspect all bulletin board communications at school to ensure accuracy and timeliness · Take a treat to your child’s teacher or any other Wilson staff member (before/after school; at lunch)
If you have 30-60 minutes... · Listen to students read in a classroom · Help make copies in the workroom. · Make classroom materials (check with teacher) · Inspect, clean & water plants and gardens on campus · Volunteer a shift: · Festivals · Staff Appreciation Lunch · Any classroom event
At Home... If you have 10-20 minutes... · Stuff the Communication folders for your class (Wednesday nights) · Cut laminated work · Check with teachers for at-home projects
If you have time on your computer... · Help with the Pawprints Yearbook
If you want a project... · Join the SPARK park renovation team · Join the Children’s Garden team
